GESTÃO URBANA E MERCADO DE TRABALHO

The models of urban planning focuses on conservative liberalism defend that the increase of the competitiveness of the cities contributes for the economic growth and the increase of jobs. The objective of this work is to prove if the adoption of these principles in the public administration of the city of São Paulo, during years 90, contributed effectively for the increase of the job level. The changes of the level of job of three important business-oriented areas of the city had been analyzed: downtown, the Paulista area and the Berrini area. The Berrini area received special attention in this work due to the high investments accomplished there, in the analyzed period. Key words: Urban planning; job market; city of São Paulo.Os modelos conservadores de planejamento urbano defendem que o aumento da concorrência das cidades contribui para o crescimento econômico e para o aumento de empregos. O objetivo desse trabalho é comprovar se a adoção desses princípios na gestão pública da cidade de São Paulo, durante os anos 90, contribuiu efetivamente para o aumento do nível de emprego. Foram analisadas as mudanças do nível de emprego de três importantes áreas de negócios da cidade: o centro da cidade, a área Paulista e a área Berrini. A área Berrini recebeu atenção especial nesse trabalho devido aos elevados investimentos ali realizados, no período analisado.
