This article approaches what is said about La Bruja and La Llorona, based on stories of oral tradition, to observe what are the traits that identify them in different versions, as well as an approximation to their cultural significances. The analysis focused on the descriptions, the actions that are said to be carried out and the valuation concepts and categories to know their representation in the imaginary of Mexican indigenous peoples, mainly. The results obtained show that they are recreated in the collective memory according to local contexts to fulfill a social function, which allows them to recreate their stories, but retaining the “core” of the beliefs which have their origins in the pre-Hispanic era.En este artículo se realiza una ...
