The intent of this prospective study aimed to identify the influence of hypothyroid metabolic status on the coagulation and fibrinolytic system and association with the acquired von Willebrand syndrome (VWS-ac). We compared 54 patients without substitution therapy after radical thyroidectomy with 58 control subjects without pathological thyroid-stimulating-hormone (TSH)- values. Patients with TSH > 17.5 mU/L over a period of >4 weeks were included. The controlcollective was selected based on age and sex to match the patient-collective.
