A practical and theoretical approach for the implementation of micro high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is described. A new simple and rapid test procedure was developed in wich a HPLC system can be validated for its suitability for micro-bore columns. It appeared that the detector flowcell is the most critical parameter, specially when compounds are separated with a small capacity factor. The main advantage of a miniaturized system in comparance with a conventional system is the higher mass-sensitivity and the low consumption of eluentia.RIV
