Evaluatie van modelconcepten voor humane blootstelling; voorstellen voor herziening van de meest relevante blootstellingsroutes in CSOIL

With the human exposure model CSOIL proposals for the Intervention Values are derived. The main purpose of the evaluation of model concepts is to obtain adjusted methods for deriving Intervention Values according to the most recent views on the human exposure assessment to soil contaminants. The research is limited to the concepts of the most relevant routes of CSOIL, i.e. the ingestion of soil particles, the indoor inhalation of volatile compounds and the consumption of crops. Concepts of other human exposure models have been selected which might be useful for improving CSOIL. For the soil ingestion route it is proposed to implement the deliberate soil ingestion for children and to introduce an exposure duration separate from the daily intake rate. Further, a distinction should be made between the oral and inhalative absorption. For the inhalation of volatile compounds the inclusion of a convective flux into the volatilisation module has been proposed. There is a recommendation to discuss the use of the respirable fraction for the inhalative route. Except for incorporating the influence of the soil pH, no further adjustments are proposed for the uptake of metals in roots and aboveground plant parts. For the uptake of organic compounds in roots and aboveground plant parts, the use of the model concepts of Trapp and Matthies is proposed, instead of the current relations of Briggs. For organic compounds, the proposal is to introduce the concept of soil and dust particles deposited by rainsplash on the different plant parts.Het humane blootstellingsmodel CSOIL wordt gebruikt voor het berekenen van de interventiewaarde voor bodemsanering. Het belangrijkste doel van de evaluatie van modelconcepten is om een systematiek te verkrijgen die overeenkomt met de meest recente inzichten betreffende het bepalen van de humane blootstelling aan bodemverontreinigingen. Het onderzoek is beperkt tot de concepten van de meest relevante routes van CSOIL, namelijk de ingestie van grond, de inhalatie van vluchtige verbindingen in binnenlucht en de consumptie van gewassen. Concepten van andere modellen zijn geselecteerd die bruikbaar kunnen zijn voor het verbeteren van het CSOIL. Voor de grondingestie route wordt voorgesteld om het concept van de opzettelijke ingestie door kinderen te implementeren. Verder wordt voorgesteld om de blootstellingsduur afzonderlijk van de dagelijkse inname te introduceren en om een onderscheid te maken tussen de orale en inhalatieve absorptie. Voor de inhalatie van vluchtige stoffen zal de convectieve flux worden toegevoegd aan de vervluchtigingsmodule van CSOIL, omdat hiermee flux van bodemlucht naar de binnenlucht beter wordt beschreven. Verder zal de evaporatieflux en grenslaagflux worden verwijderd. Aanbevolen wordt om het gebruik van de respirabele fractie te overwegen. Voor de opname van metalen in wortels en bovengrondse plantendelen wordt naast het implementeren van de bodem pH geen verdere aanpassingen voorgesteld. Voor de opname van organische stoffen in wortels en bovengrondse plantendelen wordt voorgesteld om het modelconcept van Trapp en Matthies te gebruiken in plaats van de relatie van Briggs. Voor organische stoffen wordt verder voorgesteld om het opspatten van bodemdeeltjes op bovengrondse plantendelen mee te nemen
