In April 2002 an international workshop on environmental quality and human well-being was held at Utrecht, the Netherlands. The workshop was aimed at obtaining consensus on basic principles and assumptions underlying conceptual models concerning environmental quality (EQ) and quality of life (QoL) and to initiate a plan for international research collaboration in this field. The problem of environmental quality was presented from six different perspectives (abstracts in Appendix 1).
