This research paper tackles the notions of cinematographic and social adaptation and transgression present in J. K. Rowling's movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The term adaptation is to be interpreted as any transposition or modification allowing to pass from an artistic medium or a period of time to another but also as any appropriation of the work by each member of the public who will undoubtedly transgress, through imagination and cultural references, the primary idea of what was meant to be conveyed. Transgression will be studied as any overstepping of limits, as any infraction of social or cinematographic codes.
