Pure magnesium foil has a great potential for rechargeable magnesium battery anode application, the formation of edge crack and break during Mg sheet rolling highly decreases the yield and thus increase the cost. In this paper, pure magnesium sheets of different thicknesses (0.3 mm, 0.4 mm, 0.5 mm and 0.6 mm) were prepared from 1 mm pure magnesium sheets by on-line heating rolling in a single pass. The edge cracking and breaking behavior of pure magnesium sheets were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), electron backscatter diffractometer (EBSD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and laser scanning confocal fluorescence microscope (LSCM).
