Air oxidation of benzaldehyde was promoted by the addition of benzonitrile. Benzaldehyde was converted into benzoic acid, phenol and benzene. In this reaction, benzoic acid was formed abundantly at a low temperature of 235 ℃. The formation of phenol increased with an increase in the reaction temperature, and the resulting phenol reduced the oxidation of benzaldehyde to benzoic acid. ベンゾニトリル存在下におけるベンズアルデヒドの気相空気酸化を試み次の結果を得た。(1)安息香酸の生成は,低い反応温度(235℃)において著しく,反応温度が高くなるにしたがって減少した。(2)フェノールおよびベンゼンの生成は反応温度が高くなるにしたがって増加した。(3)この競合関係は,生成したフェノールがベンズァルデヒドの安息香酸への酸化を抑制することにより起こる
