The Response of Disaster Prevention Organizations and lnhabitants at Yamaguchi Heavy Rainfall Disaster of July, 2009

A large-scale sediment disater and the flood harm occurred around Yamaguchi Prefecture because of a regional heavey rain on July 21, 2009. Especially, it became the biggest damage in Hofu City. In the present study, the questionnarire survey was done to the resident in the hearing investigation to administrative bodies such as Yamaguchi Prefectureal Governments and Hofu City Office and Nami districts, and the correspondence at the disaster and problems of measures to deal with natural calamities were investigated. As a result, because making the hazard map for the sediment disater and making the evacuation order standard were late, systematic correspondence was not able to be taken. It did not relate to the voluntary evacuation though the resident took the action corresponding to the disaster
