Nagasaki Prefecture is one of the leading aquaculture Prefectures throughout Japan. From Rito Island to various other islands, there exists a multitude of aquaculture localities throughout the Nagasaki Prefecture. The existing Fisheries Cooperative Associations in each of the Fishing villages serve basically as centres for fisheries of that particular area. In the aquaculture areas there are production, sales, and credit services specially related to the management of aquaculture. Recently in some areas there has been cases of fishermen leaving the Fishery Cooperatives.
