The inelastic dynamic response of steel space frames with tensile bracing members is studied by a new numerical method. The frame is idealized as a multistory, lumped mass, rigid floor system. Three degrees-of-freedum per story, two horizontal translations of the mass center, and a rotation about the vertical axis are considered in dynamic analysis. The restoring forces of the frame are obtained by solving whole structure considering the influence of the large deformation of the frame and the axial deformation of columns by an advanced plastic hinge method.
