Damage and Recovery of Equipments of Modern Buildings by Nagasaki Heavy Rainfall, July, 1982

The heavy rain which swept over the Nagasaki districts on 23rd July 1982 damaged seriously to Nagasaki city. The central part of Nagasaki city submerged about two meters in depth by flash flood.The underground rooms of modern buildings were flooded. Electric installation, air conditioning system, elevator, pumping system etc. which were located in the underground floor were submerged. Most of equipments were of no use and exchanged. It took very long time to use these equipments. Important problems for water prevention of modern buildings are presented. In this paper, damage, recovery and prevention system of flood disaster for equipments are investigated
