Introducing the mesh stiffness variation and tooth profile error into the equation of motion of one pair of helical gear system, the effects of the mesh stiffness variation, the ratio of static torque to dynamic one and tooth profile error on the rattle are studied by numerical analysis. As a result, the followings were made clear. (1) Because of the interaction of mesh stiffness variation and tooth profile error, resonance occurs in low frequency region. The resonance amplitude becomes large and the vibration becomes more complicated like chaos. (2) When the constant torque is smaller than the amplitude of variational torque in some extent, the amplitude of both sides impact rattle in extremely low frequency region is not much affected but...
