In the work presented, photopolymerized polymer coatings capable of reducing the drag of rowing boat hulls were developed to improve the sporting performances of the French team during the 2024 Olympic Games. To meet this objective, we were inspired by natural surfaces and more particularly by the superhydrophobic surfaces of lotus leaves. A reactive silicone prepolymer (methacrylate or cycloaliphatic epoxy) that can be photo-crosslinked and that brings a hydrophobic character to the final coating was considered.
