In this paper, a transient thermal analysis is done to evaluate the scalar field of temperature in a brake disc, installed on a large amount of land vehicles, under different braking conditions. In the first phase of the present study, a three-dimension CFD analysis is carried out, using computing code ANSYS Workbench, to evaluate the heat transfer coefficient for the particular disk examined. In the second phase of this work, a two-dimensional analysis is carried out to evaluate the temperature field reached in the domain. The bi-dimensional problem is solved numerically using a finite difference method with MATLAB and a finite element method with ANSYS Workbench Transient Thermal.
