Addressing AI-driven gender discrimination: the role of the AI Act and Corporate Social Responsibility

AI-driven gender discrimination is a new multifaced problem that has the potential to perpetuate and replicate outdated conception of gender roles that society is actively working to eliminate from the “real” world. This paper identifies gender inequalities resulting from the use of AI and investigates which role legislation, with particularly regard to the new AI Act, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) can play in addressing this issue. The results of this research underscore the necessity of a multifaceted approach to combat AI gender discrimination. Legislative measures are essential but may fall short in addressing the hidden biases present in AI systems.
