Assessing the impact of financial crisis on financial institutions : Case study: Nordea Bank Kokkola Finland

Financial crisis has been a problem that many nations, governments all over the world, as well as financial institutions have had to deal with over the years and more recently in 2008 when nearly all the nations of the world witnessed and experienced what was called "a global financial crisis" or melt down as some experts would call it. The theoretical framework of this research will however take a look at a brief origin of financial crisis and assess its main causes and, financial crisis impacts particularly the long term effects. The aim of the study is to find out the effects of financial crisis on financial institutions, especially on Nordea Bank Kokkola Finland, and also the difficulties or challenges associated with such effects that would or may affect financial institutions. The thesis includes a case study of Nordea Bank Finland which was a relatively young company at the time of the most recent global financial meltdown. A questionnaire is made and given to notable staff of the bank to give a picture if Nordea bank was affected by the crisis and how it was managed, as well as how it has been able to successfully sustain their corporate business to this day
