The article discusses Jagiellonian University Professor Adam Vetulani’s efforts to reactivate the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences between 1956 and 1958, which failed due to the hostility of the communist authorities and the praesidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
