Father Piotr Skarga Powęski and his works have enjoyed some popularity for centuries among historians of political thought, but also researchers of the history of culture, literary scholars or Polish scholars. His Sejm Sermons, as a political treatise, were an important voice concerning the organization of society, the issue of the best system, religious tolerance. This treaty postulated the strengthening of the monarch’s power, the restoration of his judicial, legislative, stable income for the kingdom. He enumerated the numerous mistakes of democracy, considered to be the most harmful system, and criticized the tolerant Warsaw Confederation as a gateway for non-believers and a threat to the unity of the country. He suggested the elimination of national vices, such as private, lawlessness, disunion. He called for the improvement of the lot of the peasants and included them in the same nation as the nobility
