Pozostałości wielokulturowej osady w Inowrocławiu, stanowisko 92a, pow. inowrocławski, woj. kujawsko-pomorskie

Site no. 92A in Inowrocław is located in the eastern part of the town, on Rzemieślnicza St., by national road no.15 to Toruń, on the eastern slope of a moraine mound, small inrelation to the neighbouring areas, and gently sloping towards a watercourse called the Smyrnia. Because of an upcoming construction project, this area required preliminary archaeological research, which was carried out from 19 September to 6 November 2011 by Maria Karolina Kocińska of the Archaeological and Conservation Workshop from Gdańsk.The aim of the exploration was to verify the extent and to identify the nature and history of the settlement. Within the six test zones designated for excavation, covering a total area of 60 ares, 61 features and 96 traces of former posts were recorded. A total of 2210 fragments of ceramic vessels, 15 pieces of former earthen flooring, 1134 animal bone fragments and 11 small finds made of bone, antler, amber, iron and glass were discovered.Based on an analysis of the source material, a conclusion was drawn that the site had been inhabited from the Neolithic to modern times. While traces of human population identified with the Globular Amphora culture are however evidenced only by a few fragments of a single vessel, the presence of the Lusatian culture is represented by some features bearing witness to the seasonal or permanent, though short-term, colonisation of the mound in the late Bronze and Early Iron Ages. In the early pre-Roman period, the Jastorf culture settled on the site and individual features associated with this phase testify to the temporary nature of the settlement. The permanent character of the buildings is evidenced only by the remainsof extensive pit-houses or half-shelters, and the wide range of pottery products made by Przeworsk culture artisans.This regular interest in the area of today’s site was undoubtedly due to its location on a gentle slope to the Smyrnia river, favourable soil conditions and the abundance of brine which exists in the vicinity of Inowrocław to this day. The presence of pottery imported from various areas of Barbaricum in Przeworsk culture settlements indicates that the population of areas around Inowrocław engaged in long-distance trade, probably related, for instance, to that in Baltic amber. Site 92A has not been fully excavated. It is safe to assume that its area significantly exceeds the bounds of that marked out in the local development plan (currently about one hectare). The research carried out has made it possible to identify the phases of colonisation in the past.W tekście przedstawiono wyniki badań wielokulturowej osady badanej w 2011 roku w Inowrocławiu. Pozyskane materiały i odsłonięte obiekty powiązano z osadnictwem kultury amfor kulistych, łużyckiej, jastorfskiej oraz przeworskiej.
