This article present results of petrographic studies concerning materials used in production of stone tools that were found during rescue excavation on the planned route of A–1 motorway in the Bocień area on the Chełmińskie Lakeland in 2000 (fig. 1). The collection contains grinders (majority of finds), flat axes and whetstones. The petrographic analysis performed allows a statement that in this area aforementioned tools were usually made of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, mainly quartz sandstone and gneiss. Comparison of structure of erratic stones with the tools in question had also been made to provide information on sources of stone material utilized by Neolithic communities living in Bocień area.
