Jesus ordered the three disciples to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead, when they came down from the mountain of the transfiguration (Mk 9:9). The reason of this command to silence and the meaning of this time limit cannot be understood without its immediate context: the whole account of the transfiguration from Jesus’ ascent of the mountain with the tree disciples to their descent from it.
