The article shows selected issues concerning the editorial shape of a three-volume, illustrated edition of William Shakespeare’s works translated by Stanisław Egbert Koźmian, Józef Paszkowski and Leon Urlich, published in Warsaw by Spółka Wydawnicza Księgarzy. The attention was mainly paid to the principles adopted in the organization of texts included in the edition. Some points were raised regarding the application of different titles of the same plays, the usage of italics, the phonetic transcription of English proper names, and the consistency or its absence in following the accepted rules. The description and analysis of the forewords and explanations prepared by Józef Ignacy Kraszewski also constitute an important part of the article....
