The purpose of this study was to generate a consensus position among experts in nursing as to what nursing\u27s role will be like in the 21st century. The results of this study provide a list of the most probable changes that will impact on nursing practice and nursing education as we enter the 21st century.^ America\u27s health care system is currently experiencing massive, rapid changes due to spiraling health care costs, advances in biomedical technology, and changing consumer needs and demands.
