This introductory chapter sets the tone for the book ‘Green HRM: A Global Perspective’ by taking a cursory glance at the conceptualisation of green HRM, which is further explored in subsequent chapters touching on green HRM practices across different countries and continents. The chapter provides a historical context of green HRM to understand how the concept has evolved over time and the motivations behind green organisational practices to promote environmental sustainability.
