El moko del banano es causado por la bacteria Ralstonia solanacearum, raza 2. La enfermedad constituye una seria barrera para el cultivo de la región Amazónica y representa una amenaza para otras regiones productoras. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar las alternativas diferentes usadas en Brasil en el orden generar nuevas variedades de banano y plátanos, a saber, la obtencion de variedad por mejoramiento convencional y las tecnologías de la transformación genéticas.
