It is not the aim of the writer to consider and completely integrate every element or issue that may be of significance, or which may be argued one way or the other. To cover every aspect or influential factor is both beyond the bounds of the objective of the writer and, although desirable, is well outside the time available for the completion of this work. Rather, the purpose of this paper is in the hope that it will jolt and maybe subtly influence the minds of those who read it. It is hoped, and in part assumed, that those who will read this dissertation will be individuals involved in various aspects of land-use planning and/or management, or perhaps the instruction thereof. Whether the reader's involvement in this field is concerned directly with natural areas or whether in an indirect manner (for instance the work of social planning or urban development), then the writer feels sure that the principles here presented are equally appropriate, even if less applicable, and further, that the intentions of the writer have still been accomplished merely by one's obtaining another aspect from which to view oneself and one's significance in a manner than perhaps previously perceived. The reader may well not agree with this work and the conclusions which it presents, but if in this light it initiates further thought or discussion then again the writer has accomplished something of what he set out to do
