Wellington City, now and in the future, is facing the problem of housing, due to its rough terrain and the limits of Cook Strait. It is the one of the first cities in New Zealand where the demand for land is very high in the city and its environs. This demand is derived by the growth and population due to the availability of work. The newer council flats reflect the trend of higher density housing.
