A landscape is the product of past decisions. Present planning decisions will bring about future changes. Natural and cultural processes have created today's landscapes. An understanding of these processes will lead to greater landscape respect in planning decisions. This booklet is aimed at all sections of the community. Firstly councillors and planners who are responsible for the wellbeing and direction of their district. The production of the district scheme is part of their work. With their commitment to future generations, full appreciation of the landscape implications of their decisions is necessary.
