Desde la década del 90 del siglo pasado los enfoques críticos de revisión del canon poético negrista leen esta poética a trasluz de una perspectiva de género orientada a revelar la estructura androcéntrica de representación de la subjetividad y corporalidad de la mujer negra hipersexualizada.
