Tabaco, alcohol y otras drogas en estudiantes de 2º y 4º de ESO en las poblaciones de Alcora y Benicasim (Castellón).

Objective: the main objective is to study the profile of the 2nd and 4th grade student’s profile that/which belongs to Alcora and Benicassim regarding the tobacco and alcohol consumption. Methodology: We have carried out a descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study. For that, we use the validated questionnaire of the Substance Abuse Prevention Program at School (PASE). Moreover, 235 individuals were included. Results: Once finished the study, we observed that 18.7% of students are smokers, 37.0% prefer having tried it and 22.6% of friends have this same habit. What is more, 52.8% of students consume alcohol and 71.5% prefer having consumed it. As far as drugs are concerned, 40.0% confirm they know places where they are sold and 19.6% have friends who have tried them. The highest the school year is, the highest the consumption of tobacco and alcohol are. Also, there are more friends who smoke and have tried other types of drugs (p = 0.000). There are significant differences between the non-performance of extracurricular activities and the tobacco consumption. The consumption of tobacco and alcohol are closely related and the knowledge of the alcohol shows greater deficiency. Conclusions: The prevalence of alcohol consumption is higher than the consumption of tobacco. The knowledge about alcohol is very poor. Smoking and alcohol consumption are closely related. Friends attitude towards tobacco influences students behavior. Knowing places where drugs are sold is influenced by being a smoker and with the consumer age. There is an inversely proportional relationship between smoking and extracurricular activities.Objetivo: conocer el perfil de los estudiantes de 2º y 4º de la E.S.O de las poblaciones de Alcora y Benicassim respecto al consumo de tabaco y alcohol. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo, observacional y transversal. Se utilizó el cuestionario validado del Programa de Prevención del Abuso de Sustancias en la Escuela (PASE). Fueron incluidos 235 individuos. Resultados: el 18,7% de los alumnos son fumadores, el 37,0% refieren haberlo probado y el 22,6% de los amigos presenta este mismo hábito. El 52,8% consume alcohol y el 71,5% refiere haberlo consumido. En cuanto a las drogas, el 40,0% afirma conocer lugares donde se venden y el 19,6% tiene amigos que las han probado. A mayor curso escolar mayor consumo de tabaco, alcohol y se tiene más amigos que fuman y han probado otro tipo de drogas (p=0,000). Se observan diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre la no realización de actividades extraescolares y el consumo de tabaco. El consumo de tabaco y alcohol están estrechamente relacionados y los conocimientos acerca de este último muestran mayor deficiencia. Conclusiones: la prevalencia del consumo de alcohol es mayor que la del tabaco. Los conocimientos acerca del alcohol son más deficientes. El fumar y el consumo de alcohol están estrechamente relacionados. La actitud de los amigos con respecto al tabaco influye en el comportamiento de los alumnos. El conocer lugares dónde vendan drogas está influenciado con el ser fumador y con edad. Existe una relación inversamente proporcional entre el hecho de fumar y la realización de actividades extraescolares
