Diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes and length-dependent distal sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy (DSPN) is its most typical presentation.1 DSPN has an insidious onset and a chronic clinical course, risking the development of foot deformities, foot ulceration, and potentially leading to leg amputation. Furthermore, it can lead to neuropathic pain and Charcot neuroarthropathy, both of which have a substantial effect on quality of life. Worryingly, up to 50–85% of cases of DSPN might be asymptomatic, emphasising the importance of seeking out this disorder in individuals with diabetes
