To conduct a latent profile analysis (LPA) in eating disorder (ED) patients using temperament and character (TCI-R) measures as indicators. 1312 ED patients including those with anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN) and EDNOS were assessed. The final LPA solution was validated using demographics, clinical variables. ED symptomatology (EDI-2) and impulsive behaviors. The best-fitting model consisted of a six-profile solution using the seven subscales of the TCI-R. These profiles were labeled: "self-focused", "inhibited", "average", "impulsive", "adaptive" and "maladaptive".
