In the years after the 9/11 attacks by al-Qa’eda against the United States in 2001, numerous scholars have published new studies of the changing work practices of foreign correspond- ents or updated previous ones (notably Zelizer and Allan 2002; Thussu and Freedman 2003; Hamilton and Jenner 2004; Matheson and Al- lan 2009; Archetti 2012; McLaughlin 2016: 190- 213).
