Objective: To evaluate the trends in the incidence of major limb amputations and the prevalence of Dutch prosthetic users at the national level in The Netherlands between 2012 and 2021 (during the COVID-19 pandemic). Local hospitals in The Netherlands reported a doubling of major lower limb amputations during COVID-19, information about a change in the incidence of major upper limb amputations was not reported. We could not confirm this remarkable increase in major lower limb amputations in our institution, nor did we observe a change in the incidence of major upper limb amputations.
