This MA thesis describes selected aspects of the intertextuality of a literary work as a problem of translation. The topic of intertextuality is presented in the context of a simulated translation order of a novel by the French author Chloé Delaume, Les Sorcières de la République (Seuil, 2016). The source text is analysed according to the principles of formal and thematic interpretants as described by L. Venuti. The thesis examines the issue of intertextuality in terms of the creative literary practices of quotation and imitation and considers the negative delimitation of translation with regard to the deforming translation tendencies described by A.
