The bachelor's thesis is divided in two main topics. In first one it characterizes what unconventional machining methods are and divides them into groups according to the material removal effect. Each method is always simply and briefly explained. The purpose of this part is to introduce the unconventional technologies and their use in mechanical engineering. Second major topic follows comparison between beam methods and is dealing with the design and construction of a laser engraver. The goal is to build a prototype that allows not only engraving but also cutting into materials such as cardboard. The primary purpose of this machine is the production of kits for model railroad.
