Gênero (gender e genre): pesquisando identidades sexuais e leitura no contexto pedagógico

This ethnography-based research is based on three theoretical concepts: reading, genre and the construction of social identities, with a focus on gender. The study aims at investigating to what extent gender may interfere in the students´ choices of genre. The participants come from two educational contexts: an English language school and a federal public school. There is a focus on reading as a social event in which the teenage readers interact with texts and with one another, co-constructing meaning and (re-)constructing their social identities, namely their gender identitiesEste trabalho, de natureza etnográfica, está fundamentado em três eixos teóricos: leitura, gênero textual e construção de identidade com foco na questão do gênero. Mais especificamente, o estudo tem por objetivo investigar como o gênero ( gender ) interfere nas escolhas de gênero ( genre ) de leitores adolescentes. Os participantes da pesquisa foram alunos de dois contextos escolares diferentes: um curso de inglês e uma escola pública federal, ambos na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Há um foco na prática de leitura como evento social no qual os leitores adolescentes interagem com textos e entre si, co-construindo significados e (re-)construindo suas identidades sociais, em especial as de gêner
