The possibility that a work of film can offer philosophical knowledge has recently been much discussed and researched, especially with the contributions of Thomas Wartenberg. Although it seems impossible to think of philosophy without a written or spoken language, it has been shown that film can contribute to philosophical research from two different perspectives. It may also be argued that a work of film can be considered a philosophical work in its own right. I will try and discuss whether a work of film can be an ethical tool and what the implications or limitations of this might be.
