I found the differences in language ability as well as the differences on the emphasis on the importance of foreign language education striking. Through the relationships I developed with French students and other exchange students, my intellectual curiosity on the complexities of education also developed. I decided to create this Guide for French teachers in the United States as well as American students hoping to teach English abroad in France to help both teachers and students to gain valuable perspective on the issues concerning foreign language education in both countries.
