Dwarf bunt is a similar disease of wheat caused by Tilletia controversa Kühn, a genetically related pathogen that is regulated by many countries. Management of common bunt and dwarf bunt requires different strategies based on the unique timing of infection for each disease. Proper management thus requires diagnosis. The current diagnostic standards for differentiation of the causal agents of common bunt and dwarf bunt rely on differences in morphological characteristics of teliospores and dissimilarities in the environmental requirements for teliospore germinat...
