In recent years, the demand for rare earth elements has increased significantly due to their use in many technologies. These strategic metals are considered as critical raw materials due to their economic importance and the risk of their supply. In this work, materials based on mesoporous silica (MCM-41) functionalized with an organophosphorus ligand Cyanex 272 and/or an ionic liquid [C8mim]+[NTf2]- with different molar fractions have been developed for the adsorption of lanthanide ions La(III), Eu(III) and Lu(III).
