This research focuses on the preparation and characterization of catalysts comprising metal single atoms (SAs) and metallic nanoparticles (NPs) and on the study of their cooperativity in selective hydrogenation reactions. Chapter 1 corresponds to a bibliographical study on the results obtained experimentally and in modeling in selective hydrogenations on catalysts based on: i) clusters; (ii) SAs; and iii) mixture of SAs and NPs. A cooperative catalysis between SAs and metallic NPs involving hydrogen spillover has been proposed in the literature.
