Disillusioned with college, Everett takes a position teaching philosophy to kids at a summer enrichment academy. He uses as his curriculum an exploration of the concept of happiness as described by ten eminent philosophers, an idea sparked by a collection of readings saved by the original owner of the mansion in which the academy is housed. Along with those readings are clues that lead to a rare book hidden in the mansion. Everett begins solving the clues to find the book while preparing the readings for his students, slowly gaining clarity on what he wants for his future in the process. The mystery of the book takes a sudden dark turn, however. Will he be able to take everything he has learned and use it to find happiness
