Of the 5,487 manuscripts known today, fewer than half have been studied, yet curiously most have been assigned a text-type. The Byzantine minuscules are among the majority of these manuscripts which have been assigned a text-type even though they have not been studied. Hort\u27s negative assessment of the Byzantine manusrcipts and their neglect by scholars such as Comfort, and K. Aland have caused them to be disregarded. However, until there is proof to the contrary, the Byzantine minuscules should play a meaningful role in the textual criticism of the Greek New Testament.
