Along with our own results from the high resolution spectral analysis of the 107 metal rich F, G, K stars from the Calan-Hertfordshire Extrasolar Planet Search program (CHEPS) we discuss differences in the abundances of Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Zn between a number of large spectroscopic surveys. Most authors tend to use stellar spectra to determine virtually all fundamental parameters including effective temperature and surface gravity. We attempted to recreate results for a dozen of common stars using available input parameters to highlight the real scale of errors this approach might induce.
