Research Data Management (RDM) covers a wide spectrum of activities and requirements. Spurred by some funder policy requirements, institutions have begun to address the policies, processes, systems, services, behaviours and cultures that are necessary across the lifecycle of research data. Drawing on a series of informal, semi-structured interviews with a wide range of institutions undertaken on behalf of Jisc, this paper summarises the state of play of RDM, highlights the common challenges, and identifies the substantive areas for development
