In view of the connection between the cumulative CO2 emissions and global warming, as described e.g. in the IPCC Special Report October 2018, the key question arises how a globally remaining budget could be realistically distributed among countries. Discussion of this issue can contribute to NDCs that are, in sum, Paris compatible. Resource sharing models directly address the allocation of such a remaining global budget. This article will therefore give an overview of the properties of resource sharing models that, in principle, use current emissions and population as a distribution key
