This research studied the relationship between the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) and Economic Growth (EG), motivated by the apparent decline of the Dominican Republic (DR) in the 2017-2018 report, with respect to the previous. As the World Economic Forum (WEF) prepared its reports using data from international cooperation and financing organizations, the concept of competitiveness was evaluated by analyzing data on indicators from the same type of institutions. As some leading scholars had previously stated, the investigation results contradict the WEF's statements about a direct positive relationship between EG and the GCI.
